Agar is a jelly-like substance, obtained from red algae, used heavily as a solid medium for growing various microbes. Many specific formulations are available because some microbes prefer certain environmental conditions over others.
EE Broth, Mossel - an enrichment medium for bile-tolerant Gram-negative bacteria in the microbiological examination of pharmaceutical products
Directions: Suspend 43.5 grams in 1000 ml distilled water. Dispense 120 ml amounts in 250 ml flasks or 9 ml amounts in tubes. Stopper with cotton plugs or loose fitting caps. Heat in free flowing steam or boiling water for 30 minutes. Avoid overheating of the medium.
DO NOT AUTOCLAVE.
