In pharmaceuticals, HPMC is used as a tablet binder, film coating, and controlled-release matrix in oral drug formulations. It helps control drug release rate and improves tablet stability. It is also used in eye drops as a lubricant.
In industrial use, HPMC is included in construction materials (e.g., tile adhesives, plasters) for water retention and improved workability. It is also used in cosmetics, detergents, and paints for its thickening and stabilizing properties.
