Agar is a jelly-like substance, obtained from red algae, used heavily as a solid medium for growing various microbes. Many specific formulations are available because some microbes prefer certain environmental conditions over others.
Reinforced Clostridial Agar - A solid medium for the cultivation and enumeration of anaerobes, especially Clostridium species.
Directions: Suspend 51.0 grams in 1000 ml distilled water. Heat to boiling to dissolve the medium completely. Sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121oC) for 15 minutes.
