Soy comes from soybeans. The beans can be processed into soy protein, which is a powder; soymilk, which is a beverage that may or may not be fortified with extra calcium from the soybeans; or soy fiber, which contains some of the fibrous parts of the bean. Soybeans are healthful and rich in protein, giving them numerous nutritional uses. People can eat them, drink them in milk alternatives, and take them in the form of supplements.
Uses: Can be used as a thickening agent in gravies and sauces, or it can be added, finely powdered, to baked goods. It is used extensively to make fudge and other candies, pies, doughnuts, cakes and rolls, pasta, pancake mixes and frozen desserts. Sometimes it is combined with milk or soy milk and made into a healthy drink.
How To Use: Add 3-4 tablespoons of soy bean powder into 250-350ml of cold or warm water. For additional flavour, add grass jelly or milk.
