BTMS is a vegetable derived emulsifier and conditioning agent which is widely used in hair conditioners and hair leave-in-products for its excellent wet combing, and detangling properties.
BTMS is able to emulsify high levels of silicones, such as Dimethicone and Cyclomethicone, increasing the detangling properties and silky feel to products when used.
It is also a great emulsifier for skin care products such as creams and lotions as it helps to soften the skin, leaving a soft non-greasy feel. It can be used in a wide variety of applications including creams, deep conditioning hair relaxers, hair conditioners and detanglers.
Typically the recommended use is 1-5% in conditioner type formulas or up to 10% for more viscous emulsions. Because there is cetearyl alcohol in the product it will build viscosity the more you use. The quat will also increase the conditioning in the formula.
- BTMS 50 is an emulsifying wax with good detangling properties. Suitable for greasy hair.
